Welcome!
Hi friends!
Can you count the number of times that you've found that something, that hobby, that side hustle, that...THING that makes you excited to learn again?
Me neither.
Nothing really fits me better than that jack of all trades master of none label that's both a backhand compliment and also a great tag for someone who's curious about so much that they just want to keep learning.
Between conversations with friends, old, young, lifelong, new, weird, and weirder, I know that a lot of people feel the same thing I've felt.
But I recently stumbled across what the original expression intended, and it helped me shift my mindset on this whole jack of all trades situation.
“The complete saying was originally “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” Formerly intended as a compliment, the phrase means that a person is a generalist rather than a specialist, versatile and adept at many things.”
Why not be that versatile and adept jack of all trades, and be good at a bunch of stuff? That guy sounds like he'd be a good hang.
This is where I'm going to share the things I want to try (hypotheticals), and things I actually do try. The cool stuff I'd love to have, and the stuff I actually do have (and whether it turned out to be cool or not).
Like most things, this may change, adapt, or all together just end. But at least it started.
And I hope it's at least somewhat useful.
