I was worried about the change...

 Hi Friends!

My wife and I have been wedding and portrait photographers for nearly a decade, and we've always shot Canon. Always.

But ever since I started following Chris Burkard and seeing the amazing work his does with Sony, along with the praise he has for the product line, I'll admit I've been tempted.

Not willing to take the plunge, I dipped my toe into the water instead.

Introducing my Sony Alpha a6400. And I absolutely love it.

I'm not going to get into a full review, I'm sure someone (or many someones) have already done that better than I ever could. Instead, here's what I was looking for, and how the a6400 has measured up so far.

What I Was Looking For

I wanted to try a mirrorless camera, with a smaller body, easy for everyday use and travel, but still powerful enough to take professional level photos, and maybe do a bit of video recording on occasion for personal travel videos and the like.

What I Got

The a6400 has been so easy to bring with me anywhere I go, and now that I'm used to it, it feels way better in hand than my massive DSLR. I've been super impressed with Sony's colors as well, with a slightly film-like vibe. I've used it on shoots as my backup camera as well, and the burst speed and focus-tracking options have come in clutch.

Honestly, it's been a perfect introduction for me into the Sony-verse and the mirrorless camera world. While I'm hesitant to dedicate to a full transplant into Sony, I'm sure I'll be adding to my Sony drawer sooner than later.

If you're looking for more details or a full-length review of the a6400, check out this great review on YouTube from Tech Gear Talk or the written review from Digital Camera World on it's relevance in the 2023 market.

Has anyone made a full transition from one camera brand to another? Love to hear how it went!
